NEW MEXICO (KRQE) The championship trophy in Class 3A found its way to Lovington last season, but Silver may have something to say about where the trophy lands this year. Lovington topped Socorro in a 28-21 thriller to clinch the title. The Warriors have enough talent to return for a second shot, but the bad news for Class 3A is the Wildcats return nearly all their players. The Fighting Colts of Silver City have a new student in their district by way of the Cleveland Storm. Cleveland's top playmaker, Iseha Conklin, moved to Silver City after his father landed a job a few weeks ago. His name is not on the roster, but that may just be a formality. It's been eight years since the Ruidoso Warriors were on top. After last year's 3-7 nightmare, the Warriors could find themselves in the mix with a senior-heavy squad. Don't sleep on the Academy Chargers. The men in red bolted to a 10-3 season last year that ended in a semifinal loss. Twelve starters are back for Kevin Carroll's team. The St. Michael's Horsemen won the title back in 2007 and hope a return to prominence is in their future. St. Mike's finished 7-4 last year. | From:KRQE Views:0 0ratings | |
